What is a surrogate uterus?
A surrogate uterus is when another woman carries the baby of a couple who is planning to have a baby in her womb and gives it to the world. In this method, the patient is given IVF by ovarian stimulation drugs and the eggs are obtained from them, the resulting eggs will be injected with the spouse’s sperm, and the resulting embryos will be inserted into the uterus of a person who has a rented uterus.
Is the uterus a substitute for me?
If you are in a medical condition where it is dangerous or impossible for you to conceive and have a baby, a surrogate uterus may be right for you.
Types of medical conditions that may require a replacement uterus include:
Absence of uterus or uterine abnormalities
Past surgeries or hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
Recurrent miscarriage
Failure of repeated IVF appointments
What is my chance of having a baby in the surrogate womb?
It is very difficult to accurately estimate the success rate for an alternative uterus. Success depends on many factors, including:
Substitute ability to get pregnant
Ovarian donor age (if included)
The success of methods such as IUI and IVF
The quality of the supplied gametes by the applicant couple
The most important factor that affects the chances of pregnancy is the age of the woman who owns the ovum.
