What is IVF?
IVF
The most common method of assisted reproductive imaging is IVF (laboratory inoculation). This method is the oldest and most effective method of other assisted reproductive techniques (IVF). It stands for (In vitro Fertilization), and the Latin word for in vitro means (inside glass). Because it used to be done in glass containers in the fertility laboratory. Today, this is also done in plastic pipes.
IVF is the most advanced and effective method of infertility treatment. An IVF lasts about 4 to 6 weeks. IVF has 6 main steps, which include the following:
- ۱. Suppression of the natural cycle: The natural menstrual cycle is suppressed with the help of drugs.
- ۲. Ovulation aids: Medications are prescribed by the ovaries to produce more eggs.
- ۳. Observing the progress of the stages and maturation of the eggs: Ultrasound is performed to examine the eggs and drugs are prescribed to help them mature.
- ۴. Egg Collection: A needle is inserted into the ovaries through the vagina to collect the eggs.
- ۵. Fertilization of eggs: The eggs combine with the sperm and take a few days to fertilize the egg.
- fetus transfer: At this stage, one or two fetuses are transferred to the uterus.
The duration of treatment in IVF
It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for an IVF course to complete. You have to wait a few weeks for the eggs to hatch. It takes about half a day for the egg and sperm to be inoculated in the lab. They will have to wait another 2 to 5 days for the fetus to be inserted into the mother’s uterus, but the mother will be released the same day and can go home.
The outcome of IVF depends on the type of infertility problem in couples and their age. Younger women usually have healthier eggs and are more successful at IVF. On average, they have a 30-40% chance of getting pregnant during each treatment period. However, the probability of pregnancy is not predictable for each patient because it depends on various factors such as age and health of reproductive organs in both sexes.
The benefits of IVF
VF is the oldest method of assisted reproduction, and for this reason, several studies have been conducted to increase the health of this method and its children, and so far, no side effects have been reported with IVF. In addition, recent research shows that fertility drugs do not increase the risk of ovarian cancer (even if taken for more than a year). Researchers are also studying the future development and improvement of IVF.
